Francisco Martinez, MSc.
Los Angeles, CA – Vice President of Technology with over 18 years of experience in software development, enterprise architecture, product & delivery, and leadership & management. I’ve been lucky enough to have worked on the 3 sides of the spectrum: the client, the service and the product, which gives me a fair amount of perspective.
A technologist by trade, with many interests that have one thing in common – a relentless drive towards the whys and hows, driven by CURIOSITY. Curiosity is what drove me to get my MSc. in Telecommunications after graduating from Computer Science major. It was not enough to understand software and computers, I needed to understand the deeper functions of my craft – Information Theory, Signal Processing, Physics, Communication Systems & Research, etc.
An avid learner and generalist, I try to view the world through the lens of how it might all be connected, seeing the patterns and commonalities in otherwise unrelated fields and problems – connecting music and language theory to human psychology, product development and marketing, entropy to operational efficiencies, and stoicism with good and old fashioned clean coding and simple architecture principles.
Main interests and hobbies: technology / product / management of course, music (guitar & drums), cooking, photography, cycling (road bikes that is), reading, and probably many other things I’m currently forgetting.
In this blog, I discuss more than just your typical tech architecture topics. I chose the ‘Architect’ concept because I equate it to many things beyond technical blueprints. As an architect, I architect:
- Teams
- Processes
- Strategic decisions
- Ideas
- Solutions
- Applications
- Budgets
- ….
